There are many incredible details in Daniel Anderson’s photographs. He uses high megapixel count digital cameras so he doesn’t miss a thing. However, this particular photograph taken in Lofoten Archipelago in Northern Norway is different from the rest. Normally Anderson captures powerful landscapes devoid of human influence. Many of his inspiring photographs look as though no human, besides Anderson, has ever seen it before, let alone traveled there. But not "Lofoten Rainbow”. Although it is a remote place compared to most of the world and the weather in the winter can be prohibitively cold, Anderson’s Lofoten seems to radiate light and life, with the sun shining on the tiny jewel-like fishing village on the coast. Lofoten can be difficult to capture photographically since it is a very disparate group of islands, but Anderson’s depiction literally places this special place under one rainbow, unifying this place with the universal sign of happiness and joy. This specific detail of the rainbow crossing the town at the water’s edge encapsulates this expansive photograph and the magic that the artist must see in this far-away place.
