Lithograph on wove paper.
Edition of 20.
Signed, titled, and annotated “20 imp.” in pencil.
Image: 9 ¼ x 7 ¾ inches.
Very fine impression in pristine condition.
An attractive composition anchored by the big round eyes of the boy. This lithograph was drawn briefly after Gerard reached the United States. Given lithographic creation almost always requires access to a printing studio, we must presume Gerard quickly found an artistic community in Chicago. She had arrived in Chicago only one year prior in 1936.
